When those snow covered mountains came into my view… I felt so excited! Especially since it was summertime.☀️
The journey to Lake Tahoe took me up, and over mountains… mountain 🏔⛰ and through through national Forests… 🌲🌲🌲🌲
Folks who live around Tahoe say this year has been very unique.
They said the fall & winter of 2019 included lots of heavy snow days… and much colder temperatures than usual.
Some summer evenings.. have even dipped down into the 40’s…
Well… thank goodness.. my time here was perfect! Blue skies, warm sunshine ☀️ and cool breezes…rustling through the pine trees.
Just enough of a breeze to make you feel refreshed!
When I arrived, I was a bit weary from my long journey.
The beautiful scenery awakened my spirit, and gave me enough energy to keep it moving! Why I was in God’s country… and there was much more to see!!!
Ahhhh… The smell of fresh mountain air is invigorating!
I checked into my hotel,… MONTBLEU… which was quite nice! ✨😃✨ 👍🏽👍🏽
MontBleu Resort Casino and Spa is between the Sierra, and Lake Tahoe.
A $25 million property-wide renovation here… was completed in 2015… but my room was still like Brand New!
The room was large, and the shower was one of the biggest I’ve seen. 🤭 It was like another room.
I felt very comfortable here, and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The staff was friendly, most accommodating and professional.
MontBleu is located at 55 Highway 50 in Stateline, NV.
It’s about an hour away from the Reno-Tahoe International Airport… ✈️
You can drive, or take a shuttle based at the airport.

Lake Tahoe is indeed a national treasure…
The fresh water lake is the largest Alpine lake in North America.
It’s in the Sierra Nevada Mountains… and on the borderline of California and Nevada.
Lake Tahoe is 1,645 feet deep, 22 miles long and 12 miles wide. It’s the second deepest lake in America.
I felt extremely BLESSED 🙏🏽 to get the opportunity to visit.
I felt all these things… while my soul was being replenished by nature.
The cool crisp air, magnificent scenery… and calmness all around me… was simply wonderful.
Before John C. Fremont discovered Lake Tahoe in 1844, the alpine mountain… fresh water lake was known only to nomadic Native American tribes.
Native Americans came to Tahoe to collect medicinal plants, fish in the cool blue water, hunt and collect materials to make tools.
There are many different types of pine trees, and beautiful native flowers all around Lake Tahoe.
The Safari Rose Crew was the BEST! They went out of their way… to see that we had a pleasant journey.
The Emerald Bay State Park includes the 1929 Nordic-style mansion Vikingsholm….
We were able to see from the yacht, and learn more about its rich history.
In 1928, Mrs. Lora Josephine Knight bought the Armstrong’s land… to build a summer home that would compliment the magnificent natural surroundings.
Emerald Bay was special! It reminded her about her travels to Scandinavia.
Mrs. Knight commissioned her nephew… by marriage, Lennart Palme, a Swedish architect, to design the home.
Oh, one ☝🏽 more interesting fact:
Lora J. Knight and her former husband financially supported Charles Lindbergh’s history-making flight over the Atlantic….
👉🏽 now… back to the mansion…
“Vikingsholm” or the “Viking Castle as it is called…was completed in the fall of 1929.
This 38-room mansion is considered one of the finest examples of Scandinavian architecture in the United States.
The castle is open for tours during the summer months…
I understand it is filled with exquisite antiques, and other fine items specially built for the estate, or purchased from around the world…
I would be fantastic to tour the castle someday. I was told it’s a bit difficult to get to by land, and involves a bit of a hike.
That’s cool with me… because there’s beauty all around…
There’s an island nearby… and Mrs. Knight built a tea room on top.
It’s like a “mini castle.” 🏰 This is where she could entertain guests, and enjoy quiet tea time… with a magnificent view of Lake Tahoe… and Emerald Bay. It’s made out of stone, on the tip top here👇🏽
Can you see it??? Look carefully.. it blends in with the other stones.
The exceptional summer home, (and tea ☕️ room),was enjoyed by Mrs. Knight and her guests, for 15 gratifying summers, until Mrs. Knight’s death at the age of 82 in 1945. By this time, her financial worth was $45 million dollars.
FYI- Vikingsholm was sold to several owners, before it was acquired by the State of California…
The water here is a perfect water give it this coloring… ( I’ll have more on the coloring in a minute!)
I also learned that snow.. from the top of the mountains trickle down… via waterfalls to help replenish the waters…
There are a lot of homes, and boathouses along south Tahoe Lake.
I highly recommend you visit Lake Tahoe… It can be a quiet retreat… but there’s still a lot to do here…
plenty of shopping…🛍 of course. 😉
You can take a lift up the mountain…for wonderful views.. more gift shopping, and restaurants to try.
It’s also a nice ride up to the slopes for skiing… 🎿 during the winter ❄️ months…
Lake Tahoe is full of Night clubs, Casinos, Bars/Pubs. ( Live bands/ entertainment indoors and outdoors.) -Plus- A variety of great restaurants.
Even all the familiar favorites like KFC, McDonalds, IHOP, Starbucks, and Applebee’s 🍎
There are fantastic things to discover here… It’s your chance to be adventurous… or just chill…
During my stay, I was told the water 💦 in Lake Tahoe was really cold…
How Cold??? Well…….. You know I had to find out for myself…
Ok, let me break it down for you like this: Think about placing a glass of water in the freezer, and just before it turns into a solid block of ice… imagine swishing it around…to make it a liquid slush…and THEN… imagine what it would feel like if you stuck your hand 🖐🏽🖐🖐🏼 in there…. yeahhhh…right…..
It’s like THAT!!! but it’s so beautiful… and those colors!
It’s like a deep indigo blue… around emerald bay..
and then a bit further away… it turns into an aqua marine blue, and then other shades of green, until it’ becomes “crystal clear” around the shore lines…
I found out the minerals in the water help create the vivid colors.
When I have a chance to return to Lake Tahoe… I’m going to take advantage of one of the many picnic areas… and enjoy all my favorite food and drink…
At the local Safeway grocery store… I was happy 😃 to discover that they have everything I could possibly want!
Fresh fruits, a great deli section, bakery and more. The prices were excellent!
Heyyy….. I found a lot of good deals!
I got a few things… but I wish I could have gotten more to bring back. 😁( LOL!) 😆
You know something else… Lake Tahoe is also a popular place to go sport fishing. 🎣
Some of the fish 🐠 🐟 out there in the lake include: rainbow trout, brown trout, the popular cut throat trout have disappeared after massive fishing expeditions, but there are still Lake bass, big mouth bass, mountain white fish, golden shiner and Kokanee and sockeye salmon around…
For those of you looking for #selfcare this is a GREAT place to re-group, relax! relate! and release.
There are tons of great accommodations. Lots of neat cabins, and houses you can rent… hotels, lodging camping. Here are just a FEW examples…
I’d say Lake Tahoe is great for a girls trip, ( spas, shops, restaurants, shows.)
For a guys trip, you have fishing, parasailing, golf courses.)
All kinds of outdoor activities for a family vacation, couples retreats…
Hiking, Camping, Sightseeing, Skiing, Scooters, Biking, Boating, and water recreation for EVERYBODY!!!
and Yasssss….. It’s a FABULOUS romantic hideaway! ♥️ cabins with hot tubs, fireplaces. 🔥 and private, scenic locations.
You can feel royally satisfied! ✨👑 ✨
Especially when Lake Tahoe offers you it’s own version of the IRON THRONE!
✨✨Check it out… 👀 ✨✨
This one is made out of
SKIIS… 🎿 instead of SWORDS…🗡
I made so many pleasant memories here…that I will cherish in my heart ♥️ forever…
This POEM sums up my feelings perfectly:
Until I can visit again…. my heart, my mind and soul… will have PEACE WITHIN …every time I think of ALL the beautiful images of Lake Tahoe!
PEACE OUT‼️ ✌🏽☮️♥️😃
